A Super Secret Park!

Is it almost time for the autumn leaves to show their true colors? Kanoko Park is welcoming the most delightful days of warm, comfortable October.

During cherry blossom season, it’s perfect for hanami (flower viewing). You can find a little playground, areas for ball games, and even spots for a local barbecue. Despite being hyper-local, it’s a park where families can enjoy quality time together. There’s also a hiking trail that leads to Heiwa Park.

If you venture through the woods, you can reach the Animal Protection Center or head toward Nekogahora Pond, where you can enjoy some light bushwalking. It’s spacious, incredibly pleasant, and highly satisfying, yet it never gets crowded.

Surprisingly, it’s quite accessible, a leisurely 10-minute walk from Jiyugaoka Subway Station. It’s also adjacent to the Cancer Center, so it’s a great place to spend some downtime or take a break if you’re visiting the center.

For a park that’s so well-equipped and largely intended for locals, it’s a super-secret gem.

Oh, by the way, if you plan to use the BBQ facilities, you’ll need to make a phone reservation with the Chikusa Ward Office. (We’d love to see an online booking system, too!) And if you can’t find parking on-site, there’s a nearby coin parking lot.

Furthermore, during cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons, Heiwa Park gets swarmed with unimaginable crowds, causing major traffic jams on the surrounding roads and making finding a spot a Herculean task. That’s why this park is a hidden gem!
