After 20 years, I’ve finally returned and it’s time to indulge!
– Hi! Thank you for joining us again on Hyperlocal Nagoya! his time, we’ll be talking about “Mibu Udon”. Thank you for being here.
Nice to be here. It’s been a while since I came last, probably around 18 years old…
– How do you feel being back at “Mibu Udon” after 20 years?
It’s been so long that I got a little lost on the way, but when I saw the park in front of me, I shouted in my mind, “This is it!” I’ve finally returned and it’s time to indulge!
– You seem to be very excited today.
This is a really memorable restaurant for me. My grandparents used to bring our whole family here often. The Takahashi family’s udon and soba dishes are based on Mibu Udon!
– It’s the perfect place for a Saturday lunch!
Yeah to me it’s perfect for Saturday lunch! It’s a super local restaurant, so I think the regulars each have their own “Mibu stories”.
– It’s a place loved by locals and appears as a page in their life stories.
Exactly. I can imagine local couples shoulder-to-shoulder enjoying “Kishimen” together in Mibu. It’s a restaurant that suits such hyper-local romances and youth! Haha.
– I see. I can feel the hyper-local atmosphere where various life stories intersect. By the way, what are you going to order today?
I was thinking of ordering “Korokishimen”, which I used to have a lot, but the staff kindly said, “It’s rainy and cold today.” So, I’m going to have warm “Kishimen” with “onion tempura” on top!
– How’s your first sip after so many years?
The broth is heavenly. It reminds me of memories from the local area and the warmth of family that I sometimes forget. It’s a bowl that makes me feel my roots. For me, “Mibu Udon” is all about “memories with family.
– Everyone has that kind of “bowl” that holds precious memories in their hearts.
I now realize how much “Mibu” means to me. Of course, the taste is important, but the “memories” are the best broth.
– It’s good to look back on the past once in a while.
Taking time to look back on the past like this is also important. Remembering forgotten emotions made me feel very positive! I hope to find a wonderful woman soon, share some “Kishimen” shoulder-to-shoulder and come back to Mibu Udon.
