The shinkansen (“Nozomi”) takes around 50 minutes, but here’s the twist: the Kintetsu Railway’s “Hinotori” express train spans about 2 hours. While “Nozomi” appears to be the quicker choice, but remember it stops at Shin-Osaka, not central Osaka.

For example, if your destination is central Osaka, like Namba and Shinsaibashi, add 15 to 30 minutes by subway from Shin-Osaka. However, the “Hinotori” takes you directly to Namba, so the difference might only be around 30 to 40 minutes. If comfort is a priority, “Hinotori” becomes the preferable option!

Nevertheless, if you lack a pass, Kintetsu Railway remains a practical choice as well. The fare for the “Hinotori” is ¥4,540 (regular seat) or ¥5,240 (premium), making it more than 20% cheaper than the “Nozomi.”
