Amidst the colors and scents of autumn in early November, a trip to Daiko Park along the picturesque Yada River in Nagoya’s Higashi-ku unveils a touch of local charm under the open skies.

Daiko Park features well-manicured lawns and diverse playground equipment, all arranged with a certain odd yet intriguing atmosphere.
The Meitetsu Seto Line train passes by every 10 minutes or so, making it a treat for train enthusiasts with kids. The train leisurely traverses the S-curve after crossing the Yatagawa.
In the sandlot baseball field, local elementary school children practice, and one can’t help but wonder if it’s here that future Chunichi Dragons players are honing their skills.
And as you cycle along the Yatagawa, you’ll witness students heading home, people enjoying a run, military aircraft from the nearby Nagoya Airfield, and a wealth of local scenery that’s unique to this area.
Living by the riverbanks provides a glimpse into the local scenery, showcasing the unique fragments of Nagoya found only here. It may not be extraordinary, but Daiko Park offers a brief and comforting respite.
